Water Experiment

The Power of Sound and Thoughts

Through the 1990’s, Dr. Masaru Emoto performed a series of experiments observing the physical effect of words, prayers, music and environment on the crystalline structure of water. Emoto hired photographers to take pictures of water after being exposed to the different variables and subsequently frozen so that they would form crystalline structures. The results were nothing short of remarkable..

As you can tell, the water immersed with uplifting songs are far more symmetrical and aesthetically pleasing than those less positive. Thus, giving the conclusion that positive and negative thinking and vibrations have a major impact on the surrounding environment. That concept is relatively easy to grasp, but this extremely tangible evidence of it is astounding. If the words and thoughts that come out of us and surround us have this effect on water crystals, it’s amazing to think of what kind of effect they have on the people and events that come into our lives.

The average human body is made up of 60% water. What do you think your crystalline structure looks like?

Sound

Bathe yourself in healing vibrations

Sound has been utilized for thousands of years as a tool for healing. With various techniques out there they all have the same intention: to move our frequency from a place of imbalance to a place of balance. Sound helps to facilitate shifts in our brainwave state by using entrainment. Entrainment synchronizes our fluctuating brainwaves by providing a stable frequency which the brainwave can attune to. By using rhythm and frequency, we can entrain our brainwaves and it then becomes possible to down-shift our normal beta state (normal waking consciousness) to alpha (relaxed consciousness), and even reach theta (meditative state) and delta (sleep; where internal healing can occur).

This same concept is utilized in meditation for regulating the breath, but with sound it’s the frequency that is the tool which influences the shift.

A sound therapy treatment is both a passive and participatory experience. The passive aspect in which you become more relaxed by laying down and slowing your breath. You prepare yourself to become the receiver of sound. It is in this place of stillness that you participate by becoming more open and aware of each sound that comes in. Sound creates the door to this place of stillness the same as a mantra helps you to arrive at the still point of meditation.

Singing Bowls

Whether metal or quartz crystal, a singing bowl sings when you run a felt-tipped mallet around its edge. There are so many benefits of Tibetan Singing Bowls such as reducing stress and anxiety significantly, decreasing anger and blood pressure as well as improving circulation and increasing blood flow.

Humming

Humming not only lifts your spirits, it clears your head. According to a study conducted by Swedish researcher, and published in the American Journal of Respiratory and Critical Care Medicine, humming may actually help keep your sinuses clear and healthy.

Yogic Chanting and “Om”ing

Chanting, the first step to meditation, is also a means of maintaining health and well-being. Research shows that chanting can stabilize heart rate, lower blood pressure, improve circulation, produce endorphins and aid the process of metabolism. Chanting can also help the mind focus, which alleviates stress levels. For example, repeating the syllable “om,” considered one of the most important mantras in yoga, is said to foster a deep mental clarity and promote a sense of connectedness with a higher power.

Didgeridoo

Players benefit from the many therapeutic benefits of the instrument: deeper breathing, expanded lung capacity, greater sense of rhythm. Listeners have access to a whole dimension of sound that is not often provided in our modern world. The ancient vibrations that come through even the most modern versions of the didgeridoo often help listeners enter deep states of relaxation or trance. These deeper states of consciousness, not commonly accessed by us on a day-to-day basis, are truly beneficial to those who enter them with intention.

Through meditation we can improve our ability to listen to our mind, body and spirit. We can identify our desires, passions and motivations and choose a life of health and happiness. It is also in the depths of meditation that the body’s natural healing abilities can best function. The vibrations of the didgeridoo facilitate meditation, helping us to attain states of harmony and balance that we may not otherwise have access to.

Gongs

Gong Baths are one of the most soothing, body detoxing holistic rejuvenating vibrational ancient tools. A gong bath or gong sound meditation is a sound massage for the body and mind (great for those of you who like the idea of a massage, but don’t like to be touched). In the East gongs were only reserved for royalty, but world wide sound healing has been around for thousands of years. The Aborigines in Australia have been using the didgeridoo, as a sound healing tool for over 40,000 years. They healed broken bones, muscle tears and illnesses with this intention based vibrational sounding instrument.

A Gong Bath is no different, as the sound washes over you gently and creates resonance in the body.

Our biology hasn’t changed much over the last couple of thousand years, but technology, social norms, lifestyles and beliefs have. In the western world we have forgotten how to get in tune with our bodies, listen to what they are telling us and the wisdom that life doesn’t have to be stressful and filled with stuff.

The power of gongs helps us easily have a relaxing tune up, in a way that is nurturing, deep, rejuvenating and transformative.
